About me
Yi-Chun (Maggie) Cheng is a Taiwanese-born interdisciplinary artist currently based in Chicago, IL, USA. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in Fall 2018. Cheng uses photography, multimedia installation, and embroidery as her medium to reflect her personal experiences on topics of racial activism, otherness, and colonial history.
Her works have been shown in the joint exhibition “Breaking the Myth: Anti-Model Minority Show” at Agitator Gallery in Chicago; “Momenta” Fall 2018 Undergraduate Exhibition, at Sullivan Galleries in Chicago; and SAIC class group show “A A C C C G G H J J L W - A Pop Up Group Show” at Gallery No One in Chicago. Cheng’s artist book “Microaggression” was acquired by the Joan Flasch Artists’ Book Collection in 2018.
